WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/21/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team defeated in-state foe Central Baptist in American Midwest Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the WBU Soccer Field.
As a team, WBU outshot CBC 14-11 and landed eight shots on goal.
Williams opened the scoring early in the match when Bruno Silveira got the best of the Mustang keeper in the eighth minute to put WBU up 1-0. Central Baptist tied the score at 1-1 with its lone goal of the game in the 17th minute.
Ricardo Da Silva found the back of the net in the 32nd minute to put WBU back in front 2-1 before halftime.
Williams took full control of the match in the second half, finding the goal three times to roll past CBC. Bruno Silveira (70th minute) and Ricardo Da Silva (80th minute) each netted their second goals of the match to extend the Eagle lead. Matheus Farias put the final goal up for WBU in the 87th minute to round out the game.
John Smith made one save in 90 minutes in goal for his third consecutive win between the posts.
WBU extended its winning streak to three matches to move to 5-6-2 overall and 3-0-0 in AMC play.
Next, the Eagles will face the only other undefeated team in the conference left standing in Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 25. Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. from R. Marvin Owen Field in Columbia, Mo.
