Eagles Drop Saturday Afternoon Tilt With Cougars

COLUMBIA, Mo. (10/25/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team lost to Columbia by the final score of 2-0 at R. Marvin Owen Field on Saturday afternoon.

As a team, WBU out-shot CC 11-8, but Columbia led the shots on goal battle 5-2.  

WBU looked to open the scoring early in the match when Ricardo Da Silva put one on target in the ninth minute, but it was saved by the Cougars Mason Beck.  Columbia put up the only other shot on goal in the half, but John Smith made the save to send the game into halftime tied 0-0.

Just six minutes out of the locker room, Columbia posted the first goal of the game in the 51st.  CC added an insurance score in the 84th minute, and the Eagles were unable to respond.

The loss drops WBU to 5-7-2 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play.  The Eagles will return home on Tuesday, Oct. 28 to face Mission on Senior Day.
