ATCHISON, Kan. (8/30/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team fell to Benedictine on the road on Saturday by the final score of 1-0 at Legacy Field on the campus of Benedictine College.
The Ravens outshot Williams 19-9 on the day. WBU landed four shots on goal to Benedictine's eight.
The Eagles had an opportunity to break through early in the match when a header from Harry Lee was saved, then a shot from Matheus Farias went high two minutes later.
Neither side was able to break through in the first half, sending the game into halftime scoreless.
After a shot from Drew Jerrett went high in the 57th minute, Benedictine finally broke through on the counter attack with a goal from Zachary Pederson to pull ahead.
Mateus Ribeiro had an opportunity to equalize in the 76th, but his shot went off the crossbar to keep the Ravens in front.
Marco Cisneros made seven saves in goal for the Eagles in 90 minutes of action.
The loss drops WBU to 1-2 on the season. Williams will return to the pitch for the first time at home in 2025 on Monday, Sep. 1 against Texas A&M-Texarkana. Kick-off from the home opener is set for 3 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field.
