WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/8/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team battled back down 3-0 in the second half, but were unable to complete the comeback against Harris-Stowe on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 3-2.
Williams outshot HSSU 23-16 in the contest, and landed 12 shots on goal. WBU also led the match in set pieces with an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Harris-Stowe found the back of the net for the first score of the game in the 20th minute, then added two more scores in the 34th and 36th minute to take a strong 3-0 lead into halftime.
After the break, Williams found some life after a 57th minute score from Mateus Ribeiro with an assist from Artur Kataoka cut the lead to two.
WBU cut the lead to just one in the 72nd minute after Matheus Farias buried the rebound on a penalty shot to make the score 3-2.
Despite the comeback, WBU was unable to find the equalizing score to keep the game alive. The Eagles put three shots on goal in the final two minutes of the match, but the Hornets managed to hang on to take the victory.
WBU finishes the season 7-8-2 overall.
