Da Silva, Farrona Earn AMC Postseason Honors
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/5/25) – Williams Baptist University men's soccer player Ricardo Da Silva was named the American Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year, and Hugo Farrona was named AMC Freshman of the Year as the league announced its postseason awards Wednesday morning.
Da Silva earned the AMC Newcomer of the Year award after leading the Eagles in goals with six on the season. The Vitoria, Brazil native also placed second in the AMC in points with 19 and first in shots with 38. He also netted a team-high three game-winning scores.
Farrona was tabbed AMC Freshman of the Year after posting two assists and a goal. The Tenerife, Spain native appeared in 16 games for Williams in 2025. He is the first Eagle to be named AMC Freshman of the year since Jacobo Obradors earned the honor in 2020.
John Smith, Lucas Belinello, Carlos Aedo, and Ricardo Da Silva were all named AMC First Team All-Conference players. Smith posted three shutouts with a league-low six goals allowed in seven starts between the posts, Belinello dished two assists and put two shots on goal in 14 starts as a defender, and Aedo put up four shots on goal and a game-winning score in 13 appearances.
WBU also placed Harry Lee, Hugo Farrona, Bruno Silveira, and Henrico Zena on the AMC All-Conference Second Team. Lee scored two goals, including a game-winner, in 15 starts for the Eagles. Silveira scored three goals and put up 11 shots on goal in 15 appearances, and Zena scored another three goals with a .583 shot on goal percentage in 16 games played.
Kevin Nunez was named as WBU's representative to the AMC Champions of Character team as the athlete that best represents the NAIA's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Williams earned a bye to the semifinal round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament, and will return to the pitch to host the winner of No. 3 Harris-Stowe and No. 6 Mission on Saturday, Nov. 8. Kick-off for the semifinal match is set for 1 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field.
