Eagles Earn 1-0 Victory Over Harris-Stowe

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/14/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team battled to a 1-0 win over Harris-Stowe on Tuesday afternoon at the WBU Soccer Field.

As a team, Williams was outshot by Harris-Stowe 15-10, but WBU recorded five shots on goal compared to HSSU's two.

The game remained scoreless for the first 68 minutes. Williams put three shots on target in the first half but was unable to break through. Harris-Stowe's only chance of the half was denied by Eagles goalkeeper John Smith in the 18th minute.

WBU finally broke through in the 70th minute, when Carlos Aedo found the back of the net with an assist from Hugo Farrona on a corner kick.

HSSU had an opportunity to equalize in the 79th minute, but both attempts were denied by the left goalpost, preserving the Williams lead. The Hornets managed one more shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the chance was stopped by Smith as the Eagles secured the win.

Smith made two saves in 90 minutes of play for WBU. The Flowood, Miss. native earned his second consecutive shutout and second win of the season.

The victory moves WBU to 4-6-2 overall and 2-0-0 in AMC play. The Eagles will look to make it three wins in a row on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they travel to St. Louis, Mo., to face UHSP. Kickoff against the Eutectics is set for 11 a.m.
