WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (9/20/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team fell to Bethel (TN) at home by the final score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles were out-shot in the contest 17-10. WBU landed three of those shots on goal.
Bethel kicked off scoring in the 19th minute with a score from Horace Avila Jr., then added on to the lead just before halftime with a score in the 42nd minute to go up 2-0.
Mateus Ribeiro scored to put the Eagles on the board in the 55th minute and cut the lead in half.
Minutes later, WBU had an opportunity to tie the match when Ricardo Da Silva put a shot on target, but it was saved by the Bethel keeper.
Bethel was able to survive the pressure and extend the lead in the 74th minute on a free kick goal to seal the match.
The loss drops Williams to 2-5-1 on the season. The Eagles return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sep. 23 to face Freed-Hardeman. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field.
