WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (9/6/25) – A late score on a penalty kick lifted WBU to a 1-1 draw with No. 15 LSU Shreveport at the WBU Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon.
Shreveport out-shot WBU 18-5 in the contest, landing 11 on goal. Williams was only allowed one shot in the second half, while LSUS put up 12.
The first score of the game came in the 30th minute off the boot of Joel Trueb to put the Pilots up 1-0. Bruno Lazaro put a shot up in the 40th minute for a chance to tie the game before halftime, but it went high.
In the second half, Eagles keeper Marco Cisneros made nine saves to keep the Pilot lead at one. In the 81st minute, WBU was gifted a penalty kick for an opportunity to tie the match late. Ricardo Da Silva stepped up and buried the foul shot to tie the match at 1-1.
Cisneros made two more saves in the final 10 minutes to keep the match tied through the final whistle.
Cisneros made a total of 10 saves to salvage the draw in 90 minutes between the posts for WBU.
The Eagles move to 2-2-1 on the season. Next, Williams will face (RV) John Brown at home on Saturday, Sep. 13. Kick-off against JBU is set for 1 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
