Eagles Drop Road Matchup to Eutectics
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (2/8/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team struggled on the road Saturday as the Eagles fell 83-76 to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy inside the UHSP Gymnasium.
Amarion Wilson and Elisha Cofield led the way for Williams with 16 points. Cooper Rabjohn put up 11 on four-for-nine shooting with three three-pointers. Trahe Qualls and DJ Townsend also finished with 11 points off the bench.
Cofield finished one rebound short of a double-double, leading the Eagles on the glass with nine boards.
As a team, WBU shot 32-for-71 (45.1 percent) from the field and 5-for-20 (25.0 percent) from beyond three-point range. The Eagles struggled on defense as UHSP shot 59.6 percent from the floor in the game. The Eagles converted for 18 second chance points and won the rebound battle 37-26.
After a tight first ten minutes, the Eutectics broke off a 21-2 run to take a 28-12 lead with 10 minutes left in the first half. An EJ Johnson dunk cut the lead to 12 right before halftime, as the Eagles went into the locker room down 44-32 through 20 minutes.
The Eagles put up a 12-3 run capped off by an Elisha Cofield layup to cut the lead to three with nine minutes left in the second half. Amarion Wilson tied the game at 65 with a layup with just over six minutes left.
UHSP's Landon Engelage got the takeaway and made a free throw to put the Eutectics up five with a minute left to play. Amarion Wilson hit two shots at the stripe to cut the lead back to three, but Williams did not come any closer as the Eutectics finished the game with four unanswered points to take the win.
WBU drops to 4-16 overall and 1-13 in conference play. The Eagles return to the home floor on Tuesday, Feb. 11 to take on Mission. Tip-off against the Patriots is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
