WBU Picked Sixth in AMC Preseason Poll
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/24/24) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the American Midwest Conference preseason coach's poll on Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles garnered 42 points in the poll to slot in sixth. Columbia was picked to win the league, with Central Baptist and William Woods landing in second and third place, respectively.
WBU went 13-13 a season ago and 5-9 in conference play for a fifth place finish in the AMC standings. The Eagles season came to an end in the first round of the AMC Tournament against William Woods.
DJ Townsend and Rico Quinton will return to lead the team on the court this season. Townsend averaged 6.4 points per game for the Eagles last season, while Quinton averaged 6.1 points and 3 rebounds per game in 15 games for the Eagles.
Head Coach Josh Austin brought in juco transfers in Trahe Qualls (Bunker Hill CC) and Amarion Wilson (Navarro College) that will look to make an immediate impact on the court for the Eagles.
WBU will kick off the season on the road in Pensacola, Fla. against Pensacola Christian on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
