Cavalcante's Goal Propels Lady Eagles Past Lady Lions

Cavalcante's Goal Propels Lady Eagles Past Lady Lions

The first half started with quite a bang as the Lady Lions were awarded a penalty kick one minute into the game after one of their strikers was brought down inside the box. A Lady Lion stepped up to take the penalty, but shot low and to the right, and Paige Carlyle was able to save it easily. The Lady Lions continued with an early control of the game, dominating possession on the Lady Eagles' defensive side of the field.

Then in the 18th minute, the Lady Eagles went on the breakaway and Livvie Campbell served up a great pass to Thaina Cavalcante who slotted it home neatly to give Williams the lead.

For the rest of the game, it was back and forth, with Freed-Hardeman getting plenty of chances to try and tie the game, but the defensive line and Carlyle in goal kept the lead for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles finished with 12 shots and five on goal. Cavalcante, Campbell, and Danielle Barstead all led the Lady Eagles with three shots.

Carlyle played the full 90 minutes and made nine saves in the game.
