Lady Eagles Race Past Ozarks on Homecoming

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team took down the University of Ozarks by the final score of 99-60 on Saturday afternoon in front of a packed Homecoming crowd in the Southerland-Mabee Center.

Chelsea Hamilton led the Lady Eagles offense with 23 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the field, including 5-for-10 from three-point land.  Taylor Hooten followed with 17 points on 6-for-7 from the field, and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, while also leading the Eagles in assists with six on the day.  

Cortayza Flowers and Taylyn Davis also finished in double figures, with 15 and 12 points respectively.  Flowers led WBU on the glass with six rebounds.

As a unit, WBU went 40-for-71 (56.3 percent) from the field and 12-for-22 (54.5 percent) from three-point range.  The Lady Eagles won the rebound battle 42-39, and scored 48 points off turnovers.

The Lady Eagles began the game with a 14-0 run capped off by a layup from Taylor Hooten.  Ozarks cut the lead to just four with under a minute to play but a layup from Flowers and a buzzer-beater trey from Hamilton pushed the lead back to nine at the end of the first quarter.

After Ozarks cut the lead to four again with just under eight minutes to play in the second quarter, WBU rattled off a 14-4 run to push the lead back out to 39-25.  The Lady Eagles rode the momentum into the locker room up 46-30.

Williams cruised through the second half, and took its largest lead of the night at 42 points after an Ally Caudle layup with just under four minutes to play in the fourth.  The two squads traded baskets in the final minute to set the final at 99-60.

The win moves WBU to 2-0 to start the season.  Next, the Lady Eagles will travel to face Saint Mary for the first road game of the season on Thursday, Nov. 6.  Tip-off against the Spires is set for 7:30 p.m. from Leavenworth, Kan.
