Outstanding Defensive Effort Propels Eagles to Win Over UHSP

The Williams Baptist University soccer team came away with its sixth win of the season against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Saturday by the score of 3-0.  This was the Eagles second win in American Midwest Conference play, remaining undefeated in the conference slate this season.

Defense was the story of this game as the Eagles only allowed the Eutectics two shots all game, neither of which were on goal.  Rodrigo Pina did not face a shot on goal in all 90 minutes of the shutout win thanks to the defensive effort of WBU.

All of the goals in this match were scored in the first half, the first in the 12th minute courtesy of Hugo Gil with an assist from Jacobo Obradors.

The new all-time goals leader Obradors added to his career record in the 16th minute to move the Eagles up by two scores thanks to an assist by Jacob Doehman.  The final goal of the night came from Emmanuel Devolder (Hugo Gil) in the 27th minute.

The Eagles put up 31 total shots, 12 on goal.  UHSP keeper Jack Wolfe recorded nine saves in the match.

WBU will be back in action in St. Louis, Mo., on Oct. 18 against Missouri Baptist at 4 p.m.
