MGOLF Tournament Preview: American Midwest Conference Championship (April 20-21)
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/19/26) – The Williams Baptist University men's golf team will compete in the American Midwest Conference Men's Golf Championship at Cooper's Hawk Golf Club in Melbourne, Ark. on April 20-21.
The AMC Championship returns to Melbourne for the second consecutive year. The event is scheduled for 54 holes with 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
WBU finished third in the event last season. Curren Bounds was the lone Eagle in the top 10, finishing ninth with a three-round score of 223 (78-72-73).
Williams is in search of its second AMC title in program history. The Eagles last took home the top spot in 2021.
As a team, the Eagles come into the tournament ranked 81st in the NAIA according to Clippd with a head-to-head record of 22-14-0. The Eagles are the second highest rated team in the AMC behind Columbia (68th).
WBU has won two tournaments this year and have finished in the top three six times.
Three Eagles land in the top 10 in the league in stroke average this season. Jack Pierce leads the way for WBU tied for second place in the AMC at 75.3. Curren Bounds is tied for sixth with an average score of 75.9, and Kaleb McClain enters the event in eighth with a 76.1.
Jack Pierce has the lone individual win for Williams this season after taking home gold at the WBU Fall Invitational in September.
The winning team of the event will secure an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Golf Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill on May 12-15. The individual champion will also earn an automatic bid if he is not on the championship-winning team.
Round one of the AMC Championship is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20. Round two will start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21. Live scoring will be available on Clippd Scoreboard.
