Eagles Cruise Past Principia, 86-62

ELSAH, Ill. (12/16/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team won its second game in as many days after taking down Principia 86-62 on Tuesday evening inside Hay Field House.

Jesse Washington led the team with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field.  He also tied with Aseem Luckey for the team-lead in rebounds at nine.

Benjamin Noonan followed up with 15 points, Luckey tallied 11, and Rico Quinton piled on 10.

As a team, the Eagles went 33-of-76 (43.4 percent) from the field while holding the Panthers to just 19-of-64 (29.7) on the night.  WBU won the rebound battle 50-43, tallied 15 assists, and forced 21 Panther turnovers.  WBU led the game for 37:47.

After Principia scored the first basket of the game, Williams kicked off a 16-2 run, powered by nine points from Amarion Wilson, to take the lead that it would not relinquish.

Principia battled back to cut the lead to two points with 5:53 left to play in the first half, but Benjamin Noonan silenced the run with a triple on the Eagles' next trip.  The Eagles ended the period on a 15-5 run to take a 40-28 lead into halftime.

Williams picked up the second half right where it left off, with a 12-1 run led by six points from Jesse Washington to jump out to a 52-29 lead with 17:27 left to play in the game.

The Eagles cruised for the rest of the game to take the 86-62 win on the road.

The win moves WBU to 9-2 overall on the season.  Next, Williams will travel to face Little Rock in an exhibition matchup on Monday, Dec. 22.  Tipoff against the Trojans is set for 7 p.m. from the Jack Stephens Center.
