Eagles Open Season With Dominant Victory on Homecoming
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team opened up the 2025-26 season with a 108-63 Homecoming win over Hendrix inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on Saturday afternoon.
Jesse Washington led the way on offense for the Eagles with 32 points on 14-for-20 from the field, as well as 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, and paced the squad in assists with nine. Deion Wesson followed with 31 points on 11-for-28 shooting and 6-for-16 from three-point range.
Rico Quinton also finished in double figures with 14 points on a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor, and led the team in rebounds with nine.
As a team, the Eagles went 38-for-69 (55.1 percent) from the field and 12-for-27 (44.4 percent) from three-point range. WBU out-rebounded the Warriors 43-36, and put up 26 points off turnovers.
Jesse Washington nailed the first bucket of the game to put the Eagles in front early. A layup from Washington gave WBU a 16-6 lead at the first media timeout.
Out of the media timeout, WBU went on a 12-4 run to extend the lead to 39-16 with six minutes left in the half. The Eagles went into the locker room at halftime up 53-28.
The two squads traded buckets to open the second half, but a Wesson triple kicked off a 24-0 run for the Eagles that ballooned the Williams advantage to 89-45. WBU crossed the century mark on a Benjamin Noonan layup to make the score 100-53.
Jesse Washington closed the game on a layup that set the final score at 108-63 to give WBU its first win of the 2025-26 season.
Next, the Eagles will travel to Carlinville, Ill. to face Blackburn in the first road test of the season on Saturday, Nov. 8. Tip-off against the Beavers is set for 3 p.m.
