WBU Picked Sixth in AMC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/21/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the American Midwest Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office revealed Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles gained 27 points in the poll to slot in sixth. Columbia was picked to win the league with 53 points and five first place votes, followed by Central Baptist with 48 points and two first place votes, and Hannibal-LaGrange in third with 46 points and one first place vote.
The new-look Eagles team features just three returners from the 2024-25 roster in Amarion Wilson, Jamichael Franklin, and Rico Quinton. Wilson was named an AMC All-Conference Honorable Mention after averaging 13 points per game and five assists per game.
WBU head coach Josh Austin welcomes in a team full of newcomers, notably senior forward Jesse Washington. In 2024-25, Washington appeared in 25 for Delta State, posting an average of 8.5 points per game.
Williams will host Hendrix for Homecoming on Saturday, Nov. 1 to open the 2025-26 season. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. from inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
