Eagles Fall To Colorado Christian in Exhibition

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (11/21/23) - The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team lost an exhibition matchup with Colorado Christian University by the score of 84-69.

Ben Keton led the team in scoring with 15 points on 6-for-13 from the field and 3-for-6 from three point range.  Duke Hardin also put up 14 points on 5-for-10 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.  T.J. Clardy scored nine points on 2-for-5 shooting, and led the team with six rebounds.

As a team, the Eagles shot 43.6 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from three point range.  The Eagles scored 22 points off of turnovers and 28 points in the paint.

The Eagles came out of the gate hot.  A Duke Hardin layup would cap off a 7-0 run that would give the Eagles the team's largest lead of the game at 15-6.  CCU would slowly start to claw back into the game, tying the game at 37.  WBU would go into the locker room at halftime down 42-38.

Colorado Christian would take the momentum completely after halftime, holding the Eagles to only 37.9 percent shooting in the second half.  The Eagles would take some momentum in the final minutes of the game after a 7-0 run powered by Ben Keton and D.J. Townsend, but it would not be enough as the Eagles would fall 84-69.

The loss will not count toward WBU's record on the season, as the team still carries a perfect 5-0 record.

Next, WBU will begin American Midwest Conference play on the road against Columbia College on Saturday Dec. 2 at 3 P.M.
