Eagles Finish Regular Season With Thrilling 70-69 Win Over William Woods

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams men's basketball team finished out their regular season play with a thrilling 70-69 win over the William Woods Owls. The win secures the #4 seed in the AMC Tournament next week for the Eagles and they will host their first game of the tournament.

It was a tight affair from the first whistle to the final buzzer. The Eagles' largest lead of the game was eight points in the first half, but the Owls cut it down to one going into half, 41-40.

Williams held on to the lead until the Owls took a 51-50 lead with 12:57 remaining in the game. Duke Hardin quicly remedied that with a layup thirty seconds later. From there, the teams would yo-yo back and forth until it was all tied at 67 with a :39 left to go in the game. Coach Austin called a timeout to draw up the perfect play for Ben Keton to knock down his first triple of the night to give the Eagles a three-point lead with :29 left. The Owls inbound the ball and try knock down a three but have to settle for a layup to cut the lead to one. Williams has the ball and inbounds it to Keton to win the game.

The Eagles shot 36.2% from the field (25-69), 37% from the three-point line (10-27), and 66.7% from the free-throw line (10-15).

Hardin led all scorers with 24 points, while Jayvon Clark finished with 10 points.
