Eagles Drop Defensive Contest Against Cougars
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - Williams Baptist dropped a tough, defensive contest to the Columbia College Cougars on Thursday night, 62-54. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 5-7; 3-3 in conference play.
The Eagles had a slow start to the game, only scoring 19 points in the first half, while the Cougars were red-hot from beyond the arc, as they scored 8 three-pointers in the first half. Things picked up in the second half for the home team, with the Eagles outscoring the Cougars 35-26, however, it wasn't enough for the Eagles to pull off the win. The closest the Eagles could get was within five points after a Daniel Cabassa (SR/Bronx, N.Y.) three-pointer with 4:10 left in the game.
Shackeel Butters (SR/Freeport, Bahamas)' recorded his seventh double-double of the season and fifth in a row with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Cortez King (SR/Chicago, Ill.) was also in double figures with 13 points.
The Eagles shot 35.8% from the field (19-53), 33.3% from the three-point line (4-12), and 60% from the free-throw line (12-20).
