Mink Becomes Career Run Leader as Eagles Sweep Buffaloes in Midweek Doubleheader

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/17/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against Arkansas Baptist at Shell Field on Tuesday afternoon.

GAME ONE - Williams 4, Arkansas Baptist 1

Brevin Carlisle (W, 1-1) set the tone for the Eagles in game one of the twinbill, tossing 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Allowing just three hits and one walk, he fanned three Buffalo hitters on only 52 pitches.

The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the second when Brett Cyprien's sacrifice fly brought home Skylar Morrison. An inning later, Mason Andrews delivered a two-out, two-run single, extending the lead to 3-0.

Morrison extended WBU's lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double that brought home Gavin Mink.  With the run scored, Mink passed Kendall Fay with his 106th run scored in his career to become the new career leader at WBU.

ABC put its first two runners on base in the seventh as Connor Brinkley (Sv, 2) came in to pitch.  A passed ball scored the Buffaloes' only run of the game, but Brinkley got the strikeout for the final out of the game to earn his second save of the season and give Williams the win.

GAME TWO - Williams 14, Arkansas Baptist 0

Williams scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, all on wild pitches, to take an early 4-0 lead.

WBU swung for seven more runs in the second behind a two-run double from Lawson Aaron and a sacrifice fly from Mason Andrews.  The Eagles added three more in the third on RBI singles from Skylar Morrison and Connor Brinkley, and a bases-loaded walk to Kaeden Kennedy.

Five pitchers combined for the shutout win in the bullpen game, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out 10.  Gaige Zaffarano (W, 1-0) earned the first win of his career with three scoreless innings and four K's.  Reuben Barron, Blaine Sullinger, Cooper Thomas, and Brody Bradley also tossed a shut-down inning.  Bradley finished the game with three strikeouts in the seventh to secure the win.
