Eagles Fall to Mustangs in Doubleheader

CONWAY, Ark. (3/13/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team lost the first two games of a three-game series with Central Baptist at Bear Stadium on Friday afternoon.

GAME ONE - Central Baptist 9, Williams 3

After a scoreless first two innings, Central Baptist got on the board first with a solo homer in the bottom of the third inning.  The Mustangs added on with another run in the frame to go ahead 2-0.

CBC broke the game open in the fourth with six runs on five hits to take an 8-0 lead in the middle innings.

The Eagles broke through to get on the board in the top of the sixth inning when Gavin Mink doubled down the left field line to bring home Will RileyLawson Aaron brought home WBU's second run of the game with an RBI single, and Skylar Morrison scored Mink with a sac fly to make it 8-3.

CBC added another run in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead back out to six.  The Eagles failed to rally in seventh despite a two-out hit from Riley to fall 9-3.

GAME TWO - Central Baptist 9, Williams 2

Lawson Aaron put the Eagles in front early with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first that brought home Cade Parks.  CBC answered in the bottom half with an RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

The Eagles took the lead back with a sacrifice fly from Mason Andrews in the top of the third that plated Gavin Mink.  The Eagles threatened with runners in scoring position and two outs, but the Mustangs ended the inning to keep the score at 2-1.

CBC struck back in the fifth inning with three runs to take the lead. The Mustangs added on two in the sixth and three more in the eighth to make it 9-2.

WBU failed to rally in the late innings to drop game two of the series.

The losses drop WBU to 12-12 overall and 3-2 in AMC play.  The Eagles and Mustangs will face off in the third game of the series on Saturday, March 14.  First pitch of the series finale is set for noon from Bear Stadium in Conway, Ark.
