WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/13/26) –The Williams Baptist University baseball team dropped its final three games of a four-game series against Blue Mountain Christian on Friday afternoon at Shell Field.
GAME TWO – Blue Mountain 6, Williams 5 (resumed from Feb. 12 in eighth inning)
Game two of Friday's doubleheader resumed in the top of the eighth inning after the teams were tied 5-5 through seven innings.
Brock McNeil took over in relief for the Eagles and tossed three innings, allowing just one run.
The Toppers went down in order in the eighth and ninth against McNeil. Williams, however, failed to plate the winning run. Cade Parks led off the ninth with a single but was cut down in a double play to end the threat.
After McNeil recorded two strikeouts in the 10th, BMCU took a 6-5 lead on a pair of two-out hits. Williams had the tying run on second in the bottom of the inning but was unable to even the score.
GAME THREE – Blue Mountain 5, Williams 0
The Eagles out-hit the Toppers 6-3 in the third game of the series, but BMCU capitalized early to take the 5-0 win.
A bases-loaded walk and a two-run single in the top of the first gave Blue Mountain an early lead. The Toppers added runs in the third and seventh innings for insurance.
Williams threatened with runners on second and third in the third inning but could not convert. The Eagles again put two runners on to begin the seventh but were unable to score.
Ben Bledsoe (1-1) took the loss for Williams, while Chris Matthews (1-0) earned the win for Blue Mountain.
GAME FOUR – Blue Mountain 13, Williams 8
Blue Mountain jumped out early with three runs in the second inning and five more in the third to take an 8-0 lead.
The Eagles were held hitless until the fifth inning, when Lawson Aaron hit a two-run home run — his first of the season. Williams added three runs in the sixth on a two-run single by Mari Thomas and an RBI from Aaron.
BMCU added a run on an RBI triple in the top of the seventh. Williams answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning on a bases-loaded walk by Parker Cook, a fielder's choice and another RBI single from Thomas but could not complete the comeback.
The sweep drops Williams to 1-6 overall. The Eagles travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., for their first road series of the season against No. 11 William Carey on Feb. 20-21. First pitch of game one Friday is set for 3 p.m.
