Eagles Drop Series Finale to Cougars

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Eagles dropped their series finale to the Columbia Cougars 11-1 in seven innings on Saturday. With the loss, the Eagles are now 18-21 overall and 5-7 in conference play.

The Eagles were able to get multiple hits, but couldn't string enough together to get more than one run. The Cougars took a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Williams responded with a run in the third when Nick Jones hit a RBI groundout. Columbia extended their lead with five runs in the fourth, one run in the sixth, and two runs in the seventh to end the game early. 

Cash Forrester got the start on the mound and pitched 1.1 innings. He allowed three runs off four hits and walked one. Jolby Jones pitched 2.0 innings of relief and allowed five runs off four hits. Skylar Morrison pitched 3.1 innings of relief and allowed three runs off four hits, walked one and struck out two.

Williams returns to Shell Field this coming weekend to host Missouri Baptist in AMC play. They will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 14 starting at noon and then a single game on Saturday, April 15 starting at noon.
