SEARCY, Ark. - The Williams baseball team dropped both games of their doubleheader at Harding on Tuesday afternoon. They dropped game one 14-4 and game two 3-0.
Game One
The Eagles scored an early run in the first when Dezmond Cordova scored on a wild pitch, however the Bisons responded with three runs of their own in the home half of the inning. Harding added another run in the second to make it 4-1. Williams got another run back in the third when Dylan Creech was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Again, the Bisons responded and the put lead back out to three runs. The Eagles cut into the lead again with a run in the fourth off a sac fly by Luis Febres and and a run in the sixth off a RBI single by Nicholas Jones. This made it a 5-4 Bison lead. Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Bisons broke the game open in the sixth with nine runs to make it a 14-4 game.
Skylar Morrison got the start and pitched 3.0 innings. He allowed five runs off six hits, walked three and struck out two. Mason Andrews pitched 2.0 innings of relief and allowed two runs off two hits, walked one and struck out four. Cole Edwards pitched in relief and allowed five runs off two hits and walked two. Febres pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief and allowed two runs off two hits. Jimmy Watson pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief. Morrison was credited with the loss.
Game Two
The Bisons kept the Eagles mostly in check in the second game of the day, allowing only three hits for Williams. Harding scored a run in the first and two in the third en route to a 3-0 win.
Cash Forrester got the start and pitched 4.0 innings. He allowed three runs off six hits, walked four and struck out five. Cole Doke pitched 1.0 inning of relief and walked one while striking out one. Eric Tolar pitched 1.0 inning of relief and walked two. Forrester was credited with the loss.
Up Next
The Eagles return to Shell Field this weekend for a weekend series against Evangel University. They will play a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 24 starting at noon and a single game on Saturday, Feb. 25 starting at 11 a.m.
