Eagles Drop Doubleheader at Harding

SEARCY, Ark. - The Williams baseball team dropped a doubleheader matchup to the Harding University Bisons on Wednesday afternoon, falling 11-2 in game one and 4-2 in the second game.

Game One

Harding got things going early in the first game, scoring four runs in the first and five runs in the second. The Eagles were able to get a run back in the third when Luis Febres hit a RBI single to right field. Harding extended their lead with a run in the home half of the third, but the Eagles got it back in the fourth when Jarron Brantley reached on a fielder's choice and a throwing error allowed Dylan Creech to score. 

Fowler Maddox got the start on the mound and pitched 2.0 innings. He allowed nine runs off seven hits and walked two. Cole Doke pitched 1.0 inning of relief and allowed two runs off two hits, walked one and struck out two. Cash Forrester pitched 3.0 innings of relief and allowed two hits and struck out four. 

Game Two

Again, the Bisons got things going early as they scored two runs in the second inning. The Eagles responded with a run in the third as Brantley hit a RBI single to right. Harding extended their lead to 3-1 in the third. Williams made it a 3-2 ballgame in the sixth when Nichoals Jones hit a long ball over the left center wall, but that was all that Williams would get in the game. Harding added another run in the sixth to make it a 4-2 game. 

Forrester got the start and pitched 2.1 innings. He allowed three runs off five hits and walked two. Noah Willingham pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief and allowed onehit. Skylar Morrison pitched 2.0 innings in relief and walked two while striking out two. Cole Edwards pitched 1.0 inning of relief and allowed one run off one hit, walked one and struck out one.

The Eagles travel to Little Rock on Saturday, Feb. 18 for a doubleheader matchup against Philander Smith. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
