Eagles Open Season at Memphis Twilight Classic

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark.  (9/1/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2025 campaign at the Memphis Twilight Classic, hosted by Christian Brothers University on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles finished 12th in the meet with 353 points, and the men also finished 12th with a score of 389.

Marizenne Jonker led the way for the Lady Eagles, finishing 62nd with a time of 20:38.09.  Sharon Strydom impressed in her Eagles debut, as the Cape Town, South Africa native finished 76th with a time of 21:38.80.

Abigail Williams finished in 99th with a time of 25:41.85, Kaedynce Miller finished 109th at 29:21.04, Jillian Johnson finished 111th at 31:34.62, and Rachel Dudley rounded out the squad in 112th place with a time of 35:47.76.

Gabriel Jones led the Eagles on the men's side, finishing 131st with a time of 29:03.21.

Cody Carden, Dylan Richardson, Esteban Gonzalez, and Ben Hackler took spots 135 through 138 in the final standings.

Next, the Eagles will travel to Batesville, Ark. to compete in the Lyon College Invitational on Friday, Sep. 5.  The men's race will kick off at 5:30 p.m., and the women will take off at 6:15 p.m.
