Raymond Crosses 1,000 Digs in Doubleheader

COLUMBIA, Mo.  (9/20/25) – Williams Baptist University volleyball senior Hope Raymond passed 1,000 digs in her career as WBU dropped both matches of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Raymond, a senior from Gideon, Mo., crossed 1,000 digs after collecting 13 against UHSP in the second game of the twinbill.  She currently ranks fifth in the American Midwest Conference in digs per set with 3.07.

WBU dropped the first match of the day to Stephens by the final score of 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-13).  Tinleigh Ruhman led the way on offense with six kills on a .176 hit percentage.

Stephens ran away with the first set after a 12-0 run behind the serve of Emma Whitson.  The Stars had a similar run in the second frame, using a 9-2 swing to take the set 25-14.

Stephens cleaned up the third after taking 14 of the first 15 points to win the match in straight sets.

Williams dropped its second match of the day to UHSP by the final score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-19).

Ruhman led the offense once again with eight kills on a .115 hit percentage, and Alicea Epherson followed with six on a .357.  

WBU put up 29 kills on a .086 hit percentage as a team with 45 digs and 28 assists.  15 of the assists came from Amber Kahler.

After an attack error brought the Eagles within one, UHSP went on a 7-2 run to secure the first set of the match.

In the second set, the Eutectics took the final five points in a row to take the frame 25-19.  In the third, a kill from Natalie Collier brought the Eagles within one, but UHSP took the final four points to secure the victory.

The losses drop WBU to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in American Midwest Conference play this season.

Williams will return home on Tuesday, Sep. 23 to face Bethel (TN).  First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
