WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (10/14/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team remained undefeated in American Midwest Conference play after defeating Harris-Stowe by a final score of 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the WBU Soccer Field.
Williams outshot HSSU 12-9, with six shots on goal.
The first score of the game came just two and a half minutes in, when Yajaiara Alvarado connected for her 22nd goal of the season to give Williams an early 1-0 lead.
The advantage was short-lived, however, as Harris-Stowe's Ana Bernardo found the back of the net just 30 seconds later to tie the match at 1-1.
In the 28th minute, Makaiya Minner, assisted by Valentina Marin, scored what would prove to be the game-winner.
Scoring came to a halt after Minner's goal. Both goalkeepers combined for six saves in the second half to keep the score at 2-1. Harris-Stowe had a late chance at an equalizer in the 84th minute, but Eagles keeper Nevaeh Larkins made the save.
Larkins collected four saves in 90 minutes between the posts for WBU, earning her 11th win of the season.
The victory moved WBU to 11-2-0 overall and 3-0-0 in AMC play this season. The Lady Eagles will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, on the road against UHSP. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the SLUH Football Field.
