HANNIBAL, Mo. (10/11/25) – Williams Baptist University junior Yajaira Alvarado set a new school record for career goals in the Eagles' 5-2 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday afternoon.
Alvarado entered the match tied with Maria Ramirez for the most career goals at Williams, each with 19. The Jonesboro, Ark., native broke the record with the first score of the match in the fifth minute.
She added another goal in the 22nd minute, assisted by Valentina Marin, to put the Eagles up by two. Just before halftime, Kelsey Blackwell found the net to give the Lady Eagles a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Out of the locker room, HLGU scored on a penalty kick in the 47th minute to cut into the WBU lead, but Mackenzie Souers answered in the 56th minute to restore the three-goal cushion.
Makaiya Minner added the final goal for the Eagles in the 73rd minute, extending the lead to four. The Trojans managed another goal in the 82nd minute but couldn't close the gap, as Williams secured its fourth consecutive victory.
The win moves WBU to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in American Midwest Conference play. The Lady Eagles return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 14, to host Harris-Stowe. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the WBU Soccer Field.
