Alvarado Sets WBU Single-Season Goal Record in Win Over FHU

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark.  (9/24/25) – Williams Baptist University women's soccer sophomore Yajaira Alvarado broke the WBU single-season record for goals after posting a hat trick in WBU's 3-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman on Wednesday afternoon.

Her second consecutive hat trick brings Alvarado's goal total to 17, leading all levels of collegiate women's soccer.

As a team, WBU out-shot FHU 30-10, and landed 12 of those shots on goal.  Navaeh Larkins made four saves between the posts for the Lady Eagles in 90 minutes of action.

Alvarado's first score of the game came in the 26th minute after a slick move around the defender gave a clear shot on target.  The score was her 15th of the season, breaking the previous record of 14 held by Victoria De Abreu that was set just last season.

After the halftime break, Alvarado scored again this time with an assist from Valentina Marin in the 54th minute to extend the Eagles lead to 2-0.

Then only 45 seconds later, the Jonesboro, Ark. native completed her hat trick with an assist from Makaiya Minner to give WBU a 3-0 cushion.

FHU's lone goal came in the 69th minute from Ellie Wood.  The Lions were unable to mount a comeback in the late minutes as Williams claimed the victory.

The win moves WBU to 8-2 overall on the season.  Next, the Lady Eagles will begin conference play on Saturday, Oct. 4 by taking on Stephens at home.  Kick-off against the Stars is set for noon from the WBU Soccer Field.
