Eagles Match Single-Season Win Record With Victory Over Scots

BATESVILLE, Ark.  (9/10/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team matched the most wins in a season in program history on Wednesday evening after taking down Lyon by the final score of 4-1 at Huser Field.

As a team, WBU out-shot Lyon 14-7 in the match, landing nine of those shots on target.

Yajaira Alvarado scored the first goal of the match in just the second minute of the contest.  The score was her 11th on the season, tying Grace's Cassidy Felger for the national lead.

Fabiana Quiros added on in the 39th minute to put WBU up 2-0 at halftime.

Lyon was able to cut the lead in half with a goal in the 60th minute by Zoe Papazoglou after the break, but Mackenzie Souers found the back of the net just 39 seconds later with an assist from Alvarado to give Williams another two goal cushion.

Souers scored again in the 82nd minute with an assist from Makaiya Minner to put WBU up for good in the contest.  The score gave Souers her first career multi-goal game.

Nevaeh Larkins made two saves in 90 minutes between the posts for the Lady Eagles. 

The win moves to 6-1 on the season, tying the record for the most wins in a single-season in program history set by the 2016 team.

Next, WBU will conclude its four game roadstand against Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Sep. 16.  Kick-off against the Stars is set for 3:30 p.m. from Brian Harvey Field in Oklahoma City, Okla.
