Eagles Down Sterling in Road Contest

STERLING, Kan.  (9/6/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team scored three goals in the first half in a 4-0 win over Sterling on Saturday afternoon.

As a team, WBU out-shot Sterling 26-8 in the contest.  WBU landed 11 of those shots on goal.

Yajaira Alvarado opened up the scoring in the 20th minute with an assist from Valentina Marin for her 10th goal of the season.  WBU struck again only thirty seconds later when Makaiya Minner buried a goal with an assist from Alvarado to put the Eagles up 2-0.

Valentina Marin put in Williams' third goal of the half in the 32nd minute with an assist from Makaiya Minner to give WBU a 3-0 lead at the break.

Mackenzie Souers put up WBU's fourth goal of the game in the 83rd minute to cement the Eagles' fifth win of the season.

Neveah Larkins took the win in goal after 45 minutes of action to move to 5-1-0 on the season.  Larkins did not face any shots on goal.  Lisa Craig played the second half and made three saves to close out the game between the posts.

Williams surpassed its win total in the 2024 season with the victory.  The 2025 Lady Eagles have won the most games in a season since the 2021 campaign.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, Sep. 10 against in-state foe Lyon College.  Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. from Huser Field in Batesville, Ark.
