Eagles Take Down Tigers in Road Clash

MCPHERSON, Kan.  (9/4/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team defeated Central Christian (KS) by the final score of 3-0 on Thursday night.

Yajaira Alvarado led the Eagles offensive front with two goals in the match.  Her nine scores on the season is tied for the national lead in NAIA.

As a team, WBU out-shot CCCK 23-7, and landed 13 shots on goal.  

Alvarado buried the first score of the game in the 44th minute to put WBU ahead just before the halftime whistle.  She scored her second goal in the 57th minute to extend the lead.

Mackenzie Souers scored her second goal of the season in the 62nd minute to put WBU in front 3-0. The Tigers put a shot on goal in the 89th minute, but it was saved by Eagles keeper Neveah Larkins to secure the win.

Larkins faced only two shots on goal in 90 minutes of action, saving both of them to secure her third clean sheet of the season.  She moves into second on the single-season shutouts leaderboard at WBU, and is one shutout away from tying the single-season record (Paige Carlyle, 2021).

The win moves Williams to 4-1 on the season.  The Lady Eagles will continue their road trip on Saturday, Sep. 6 when WBU takes on Sterling.  Kick-off is from Sterling, Kan. is set for noon.
