ST. LOUIS, Mo.  (8/27/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's soccer team took a decisive victory over Missouri Baptist on Wednesday by the final score of 6-1.

Sophomore Yajaira Alvarado led the way for the Lady Eagles with her second straight multi-goal game.  Alvarado brings her season total to seven goals, which leads the NAIA.

Alvarado scored her first goal only four minutes into the contest, then followed with another score in the 23rd minute to extend WBU's lead to 2-0.

Two minutes later, Mackenzie Souers scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Valentina Marin to widen the gap again.

Missouri Baptist got a goal back in the 34th minute from Kate Jose, but WBU answered in the 40th with a goal from Valentina Marin to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.

Alvarado opened the second half with a goal to complete her second consecutive hat trick in the 50th minute, then capped off her day with her fourth tally in the 82nd minute to put the match away in favor of Williams.

The victory is WBU's first over Missouri Baptist in program history.  The Spartans had won the previous 14 matchups in the series since WBU established women's soccer in 2013.

WBU moves to 2-0 on the season, the team's best start in program history.  Next, Williams will take on Hendrix on Friday, Aug. 29 in Walnut Ridge for its home opener.  Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. from the WBU Soccer Field.
