SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (3/2/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team fell to Columbia in the American Midwest Conference Tournament championship game 86-58 inside W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse on Monday night.
Chelsea Hamilton and Joi Montgomery both led the scoring charge for the Lady Eagles with 10 points each. Montgomery also led the squad on the glass with nine rebounds.
As a team, WBU went 19-of-65 (29.2 percent) from the field on the night. The Cougars controlled the rebound battle 57-33.
Columbia took control of the game early with a 10-0 run, and outscored the Lady Eagles 22-11 in the first quarter.
Chelsea Hamilton knocked down a three to cut the lead to 11 with 6:42 to go in the first half, but CC responded to extend the lead to 49-22.
The Lady Eagles were unable to mount a rally in the second half and fell 86-58.
The loss drops Williams to 24-5 overall on the season.
The Lady Eagles have already secured an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. WBU will learn of its opponent during the NAIA Women's Basketball Selection Show, scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 5, 2026. The show will be available to watch on YouTube.
