Ellis Earns AMC Player of the Year Honor

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (2/25/26) – Williams Baptist University women's basketball senior Cha'Myrean Ellis was named American Midwest Conference Player of the Year at the AMC Postseason Awards Banquet on Wednesday night.

Ellis led the AMC in made field goals this season (215) and points per 40 minutes (30.2), while ranking third in points per game (20.3), seventh in total rebounds (166), and eighth in steals (46).  Ellis also earned AMC Newcomer of the Year honors and was placed on the All-Conference First Team.

The Carthage, Miss. native is the second Lady Eagle in as many years to be named AMC Player of the Year, following Carmen Taylor earning the award during the 2024-25 campaign.

Joi Montgomery was named to the AMC All-Conference Second Team after leading the league in FG% (57.7) and finishing 10th in points per game (14.2).  

Chelsea Hamilton, Sara Crowe, and Taylor Hooten were all named to the AMC All-Conference Third Team.  Crowe, Hooten, and Montgomery were all named to the AMC All-Defensive Team.

Taylor Hooten rounded out the awards by being named to the AMC Champions of Character Team, recognizing athletes who best represent the NAIA's Five Core Values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Ally Caudle, Alyssa Heltz, Darcy Broglin, Destiny Burks, Destiny Hale, Drew Lattimore, Eljanae Daniels, Isabella Conaway, Izabelle Wolf, Katelyn Graddy, Kyla Harston, Sara Crowe, Shermyah Bracey, Stephanie Alls, Taliyah Austin, and Taylor Hooten were all named to the AMC Academic All-Conference Team.

The Lady Eagles finished the regular season with a 22-4 overall record and a 16-2 mark in conference play.  Next, the Lady Eagles will face Harris-Stowe in the quarterfinal round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament.  Tipoff against the Hornets is set for 5:15 p.m. from W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse in Springfield, Mo.
