Lady Eagles Post Historic Defensive Performance in Win Over Trojans
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/23/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team set a new record for least points allowed in a game in modern program history after defeating Hannibal-LaGrange 99-25 on Friday afternoon inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
25 points is the least amount of points a Lady Eagles team has allowed in modern program history, surpassing the previous low of 27 points allowed against Benedictine-Springfield on Dec. 11, 2014.
WBU went 42-of-79 (53.2 percent) from the field holding the Trojans to just 9-of-47 (19.1 percent) shooting. The Lady Eagles won the rebound battle 48-31, and scored 55 points on 36 Trojan turnovers. Williams led the game wire to wire.
Cha'Myrean Ellis led all scorers with 21 points. Lakiya Scott posted a new career-high with 16 points off the bench in 13 minutes, and Chelsea Hamilton piled on 11 points. 14 different Eagles scored in the contest.
Williams got off to a dominant start with a 27-0 run to begin the game. The Lady Eagles out-scored the Trojans 35-2 in the first period, holding HLGU to 1-of-12 (8.3 percent) from the field.
WBU built on its lead in the second, starting the quarter on a 10-0 run to go up 45-2 after a Hamilton triple. Ally Caudle drained a three to end the half and send the Eagles into the locker room ahead 55-6.
Williams cruised to the win in the second half, forcing 16 total turnovers in the final 20 minutes to secure its ninth-straight win.
The win moves WBU to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in AMC play. Next, the Lady Eagles will host Cottey on Thursday, Jan. 29. Tipoff against the Comets is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
