Eagles Tame Mustangs for Eighth Consecutive Win
CONWAY, Ark. (1/21/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team won its eighth-straight game after taking down Central Baptist 103-58 inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.
Cha'Myrean Ellis led all scorers in the game with a new season-high of 33 points. Chelsea Hamilton followed up with 15, and Sara Crowe piled on 12. Joi Montgomery led the team on the glass with seven rebounds. 11 different Eagles scored in the win. Taylor Hooten tied for the third-most steals in a game with eight.
As a team, WBU shot 45-of-84 (53.6 percent) from the field while holding CBC to just 31.3 percent (21-of-67) shooting. The Lady Eagles won the rebound battle 54-37, and dominated down low with 72 points in the paint.
Joi Montgomery began the game with a layup. CBC matched the Eagles output in the first six minutes to tie the game at 10, but a Hamilton jumper kick started a 17-3 run that WBU rode to the end of the first quarter.
CBC cut the lead to nine in the second with a three-pointer from Lexi Duck, but Williams responded with a 9-2 run to end the period and take a 50-33 lead into halftime.
The Lady Eagles began the third quarter on a 9-0 run to force an early Mustang timeout. WBU went on to out-score the Mustangs 35-20 in the third to pad the lead and seal the win.
The Lady Eagles finished the game with a 19-4 advantage in the fourth quarter. Seanlajah Smith sent the Eagles over 100 points on the night with a three-pointer.
The win moves WBU to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in American Midwest Conference play this season. Next, the Lady Eagles will return home to host Hannibal-LaGrange on Friday, Jan. 23. Tipoff against the Trojans is set for 3 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
