Lady Eagles Cruise by Patriots on the Road

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (1/17/26) – Five Lady Eagles finished in double figures as the Williams Baptist University women's basketball team won its seventh-consecutive game by the score of 86-54 against Mission inside W.E. Dowell Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

Cha'Myrean Ellis led the team with 21 points on the day on 9-of-15 shooting from the field.  Joi Montgomery followed up with 14 points while leading the squad on the glass with seven rebounds.  Taylor Hooten and Chelsea Hamilton each posted 13 points, and Sara Crowe finished with 11.

As a team, Williams went 31-of-71 (43.7 percent) from the field while holding Mission to just 28.6 percent shooting.  The Lady Eagles shot at a 31.8 percent (7-for-22) clip from three-point range, and won the rebound battle 44-37.

After Mission scored the first bucket of the game, the Lady Eagles trailed for most of the first quarter until a Joi Montgomery jumper put WBU up 19-18.  After a three-point play from MU's Ireland Jones put the Patriots ahead, a jump shot from Cha'Myrean Ellis put the Lady Eagles ahead to end the first quarter 22-21.

Williams began the second quarter on a 9-0 run kicked off by a three-pointer from Montgomery.  The Lady Eagles held Mission to just 17.6 percent shooting to outscore the Patriots 25-8 to carry a 47-29 lead into the break.

The Lady Eagles continued the defensive domination in the third period to out-score Mission 24-7 to run away with a 71-36 advantage into the final 10 minutes.  Williams cruised through the final period to take the decisive road win.

WBU's seventh-straight win moves the squad to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in American Midwest Conference play this season.  Next, Williams will travel to Conway, Ark. to face Central Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 22.  Tipoff against the Mustangs is set for 5:30 p.m. from A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse.
