Lady Eagles Down UHSP to Sweep Three-Game Homestand
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/10/26) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team completed an undefeated three-game homestand with a 97-72 win over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Saturday afternoon inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
Cha'Myrean Ellis led WBU with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in the victory. Chelsea Hamilton followed with a season-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting, and Joi Montgomery and Sara Crowe each piled on another 15.
As a unit, Williams went 41-of-69 (59.4 percent) from the field and 8-of-20 (40.0 percent) from three-point range. The Eagles won the rebound battle 40-35 and dished out 27 total assists.
After UHSP hit a three-pointer to begin the game, WBU took the lead on a jumper from Sara Crowe in the midst of a 13-2 swing in the first five minutes. The Eutectics shrunk the Eagle lead to four with 2:48 left in the first period, but Williams ended the stanza on a 10-4 run to go up by 10.
The Lady Eagles continued to pile on in the second to extend the lead. Chelsea Hamilton posted 22 points in the first half on 5-for-9 shooting from three-point range. A Hamilton trey with 42 seconds left put WBU ahead 51-37 going into the halftime break.
WBU out-scored UHSP 34-17 in the third quarter to put the game away. Williams began the final period on a 12-2 heater to go up 63-39. Cha'Myrean Ellis led WBU to a 85-54 advantage with 11 points in the third quarter.
UHSP out-scored Williams 18-12 in the final 10 minutes, but failed to put up a comeback as WBU cruised to its fifth straight victory.
The win moves the Lady Eagles to 10-3 overall and 4-1 in American Midwest Conference play. Next, WBU will kick off a three-game road swing with a game against Harris-Stowe on Thursday, Jan. 15. Tipoff against the Hornets is set for 5:30 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
