Lady Eagles Down Oklahoma City in Road Matchup
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (11/25/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team defeated Oklahoma City by the score of 75-63 on the road inside Abe Lemons Arena on Tuesday afternoon.
Chelsea Hamilton led the team with 20 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field with three three-pointers. Cha'Myrean Ellis followed up with 19 points on 7-of-18 shooting, and Joi Montgomery posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
As a unit, WBU went 26-of-65 from the field (40.0 percent) and 5-of-20 from downtown (25.0 percent). The Lady Eagles won the rebound battle 44-38. Williams dominated down low, scoring 26 points in the paint and putting back nine second-chance points.
WBU trailed 14-10 with four minutes to go in the first quarter, but Chelsea Hamilton flipped the advantage with a trey, steal, and layup to put the Eagles ahead 15-14. A Joi Montgomery jumper gave Williams the lead at the end of the first quarter, 19-17.
Down 27-26, Hamilton buried another triple with 5:28 left in the second quarter to put the Eagles back in front, this time for good. WBU finished the period on a 15-8 run to take a 41-35 lead into halftime.
OCU pulled back within a possession at the 8:02 mark in the second quarter, but a layup from Sara Crowe kicked off a 9-2 swing for WBU that put the Eagles up 52-42. The Eagles outscored the Stars 20-11 in the third to bring a 61-46 lead into the final 10 minutes.
OCU cut the lead to 11 with 2:32 to go in the game, but the Eagles squashed any chance of a Stars comeback to close out the victory on the road.
The win moves WBU to 4-2 overall on the season. Next, Williams will kick off American Midwest Conference play on the road against Cottey on Monday, Dec. 1. Tipoff against the Comets is set for 5:30 p.m. from Nevada, Mo.
