Taylor Named AMC Player of the Year at AMC Awards Banquet

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/27/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team took home 10 different individual awards at the American Midwest Conference Awards Banquet hosted by the league on Thursday night at First Baptist Church of Walnut Ridge.

Carmen Taylor headlined the event as the league's Player of the Year.  Taylor led the league in scoring average at 19.9 points per game.  The Arlington, Tenn. native was also named an AMC First Team All-Conference selection and chosen to the All-Defensive Team.  Taylor became the first Lady Eagle to reach 1,000 career points at WBU in only two seasons.

Sara Crowe was chosen as the AMC Co-Sixth Woman of the Year alongside Columbia's Ashtyn Klusmeyer.  Crowe led the league in FG% at a 55.8 percent clip and seventh in blocks with 27.  Crowe averaged 7.6 points per game this season.

Kaylee Isaacs was named to the AMC All-Conference First Team alongside Taylor.  Isaacs became WBU's all-time leading scorer and became the first Lady Eagle to reach 2,000 points this season.  She averaged 17.0 points per game (3rd AMC) and led WBU in rebounds per agme with 7.1 (8th AMC).

Charmen Taylor was named to the AMC All-Conference Second Team as well as the All-Defensive Team.  Taylor finished second in the league in steals with 66 and 20th in rebounds with a total of 156.

Taylor Hooten and Monica Horne were tabbed AMC All-Conference Honorable Mentions as well.  Hooten finished with 117 assists (3rd AMC) and shot at a 36.7 percent mark from three-point range (6th AMC).  Horne finished sixth in the league in offensive rebounds with 73 on the year, and averaged 7.0 points per game.

Horne was also named as WBU's representative for the AMC Champions of Character Team.    The award highlights athletes that best represent the NAIA's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

John Mayberry was named the AMC Coach of the Year after leading WBU to its first AMC championship in program history.  WBU's 25 wins ties the program best for wins in a season, and 21 conference wins sets a new program high.

Next, the Lady Eagles will kick off their run in the American Midwest Conference Tournament presented by TandemHR on Friday against Central Baptist.  Tip-off against the Mustangs in the first round is set for 5:15 p.m. from inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.

Kaylee Isaacs, Sara Crowe, Taylyn Davis, Taylor Hooten, Monica Horne, Carmen Taylor, Charmen Taylor, Jasmyn Acosta, Taliyah Austin, Maranda Bear, Shermyah Bracey, Darcy Broglin, Destiny Hale, Alyssa Heltz, Kayleigh Kirk were all named to the AMC Academic All-Conference Team.

WBU will host the entirety of the AMC Tournament inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.  Tickets must be purchased in advance at amcsportsonline.com/tickets.
