Isaacs Reaches 2,000; WBU Wins 20th Straight on Senior Day

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (2/22/25) – Kaylee Isaacs scored her 2,000th career point as the Williams Baptist University women's basketball team took its 20th consecutive victory against Cottey by the final score of 86-50 on Senior Day inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.

WBU honored its six seniors in a pre-game ceremony.  Nijah Moore, Carmen Taylor, Charmen Taylor, Monica Horne, Kaylee Isaacs, and Kiri Steverson were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the WBU women's basketball program over the last few seasons.

Carmen Taylor led the scoring charge for Williams with 22 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field.  Her sister Charmen followed with 12, Taylor Hooten scored 12, and Sara Crowe put up 10 off the bench.

Kaylee Isaacs finished with 14 points to become the first player in program history to cross the 2,000 point milestone after a free-throw in the third quarter.

As a team, WBU went 32-for-61 (52.5 percent) from the floor while holding the Comets to just 30.2 percent shooting.  The Lady Eagles also knocked down 8-of-19 three-point attempts.  WBU won the rebound battle 46-36, and scored 24 points off 18 Cottey turnovers.  

After Cottey scored the game's opening bucket, WBU responded with an 8-0 run led by four points from Isaacs to take an 8-2 lead.  After Cottey cut the lead to two, Williams went on another run to extend its lead to seven before the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Eagles continued to add on in the second, out-scoring the Comets 22-8 to take a 37-16 lead at halftime. 

During halftime, WBU cheerleading celebrated Lyndi Martin, Alonna Thomas, Hannah Johnston, and Rebecca Simington for their contributions to the program.

WBU coasted to the win in the second half.  A layup from Carmen Taylor gave Williams its largest lead of the night at 37 with 1:35 to go in the fourth quarter.  

Williams cut down the nets in a post-game ceremony to celebrate the team's first AMC championship in program history.  

WBU finishes the regular season at 25-3 overall and 21-1 in AMC play.  The Lady Eagles have now tied the program high for wins set in the 1987-88 season at 25.

Next, WBU will face Central Baptist in the first round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament on Friday, Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m.  Williams will play host to the tournament inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
