Lady Eagles Take Down Mustangs on the Road for Seventeenth Straight Win
CONWAY, Ark. (2/13/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team defeated Central Baptist 76-66 for its seventeenth consecutive victory inside the A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
Taylor Hooten led the scoring charge for Williams with 17 points on the night on 5-for-8 shooting from three-point range. Charmen Taylor followed up with fifteen points on 7-for-14 from the field, and Sara Crowe added on 14 points.
Kaylee Isaacs put up another double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. With a three-pointer in the third quarter, Isaacs passed Jessica Shepard to become the all-time leader in made three-pointers at Williams with 193 career makes from deep.
WBU went 31-for-78 (39.7 percent) from the field in the contest. WBU lost the rebound battle 42-41, but forced 23 Mustang turnovers that turned into 14 points.
After Carmen Taylor scored the game's first bucket, the Mustangs went on a 10-0 run capped off by a Raigan Head triple to go up 10-2. The Eagles responded with a 12-2 run to take a 14-12 lead halfway through the first.
Head brought CBC within one with a three-pointer in the second quarter, but the Mustangs failed to take the lead as the Eagles went into halftime up 43-39.
Carmen Taylor gave Williams its largest lead of the night with a free-throw in the third quarter to put WBU up 60-47.
Early in the fourth, Central Baptist cut the Eagle lead to four on a Rhys Anderson layup. WBU responded with a six-point swing to put the lead back at 10. CBC failed to mount a comeback in the final two minutes as Williams took the 77-67 win.
The win moves WBU to 22-3 overall and 18-1 in conference play. With 18 wins in the American Midwest Conference, the Lady Eagles have set a new school record for conference wins in a season.
Next, the Lady Eagles will travel to St. Louis, Mo. to take on Missouri Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 15. Tip-off against the Spartans is set for 2 p.m.
