Lady Eagles Roll Spartans for Sixth Straight Win
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/11/25) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to six as the Lady Eagles took down Missouri Baptist 87-45 on Saturday afternoon inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
Carmen Taylor scored 21 points on 5-for-15 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Taylor has now scored at least 10 points in 11 straight games. Charmen Taylor followed close behind with 19 points on a 7-for-11 clip.
Kaylee Isaacs also finished in the double digits for the sixth straight game, posting 16 points on 7-for-22 shooting.
Monica Horne led the team on the boards with 11, including seven offensive rebounds.
As a team, WBU went 32-for-74 (43.2 percent) from the field, and held Missouri Baptist to 16-for-52 (30.8 percent). Williams won the rebound battle 50-29 and scored 22 second chance points. The Lady Eagles also scored 24 points off 25 Spartan turnovers.
After a tight first four minutes, the Lady Eagles started to put distance between the two squads as nine points from Carmen Taylor powered a 14-2 run to give Williams an 19-9 lead.
The Williams defense stepped up in the second, holding Missouri Baptist scoreless through six minutes to take a 44-25 lead into halftime. The Lady Eagles continued to run away in the third quarter, finishing the stanza on a 16-2 run to go up by 33.
WBU ran out the clock in the final quarter of the game to take the 87-45 win.
The victory moves Williams to 11-3 on the year and 7-1 in conference play. Next, the Lady Eagles will take on Central Baptist at home on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
