Lady Eagles Take Down Stars 86-62

COLUMBIA, Mo. (12/4/24) – The Williams Baptist University women's basketball team had six players score in the double digits as it took down Stephens 86-62 inside Silverthorne Arena on Wednesday night.

Kaylee Isaacs led all scorers with 18 points, including a career-high 11 made free throws.  Sara Crowe added in 10 on four-for-five from the field, while Carmen Taylor, Charmen Taylor, Taylor Hooten, and Nijah Moore all finished with 10 points.

Hooten and Monica Horne tied for the team lead in rebounds with eight each, and Charmen Taylor dished out six assists.

As a team, WBU shot 43.8 percent from the field on 28-for-64.  The squad out-rebounded Stephens 45-41 and scored 35 points from the bench. Williams never trailed in the contest.

After a scoreless first two and a half minutes, Williams jumped in front on a 10-4 run capped off by a Sara Crowe layup.  The Eagles finished the first quarter on an 11-3 run to take a 21-9 lead to the break. 

WBU pushed the lead to 19 on a Taylor Hooten trey in the second quarter.  The Eagles went into halftime up 39-25.

The Stars matched the Eagles in the third quarter, with both sides scoring 21 points.  Kaylee Isaacs scored eight points in the third while Stephens' LaiJanique Perry-Ellis put up 10 to make the score 60-46 going into the final 10 minutes.

The final quarter featured an 11-2 Eagle run capped off by an Isaacs triple that all but iced the game for WBU.  Cortazya Flowers hit a layup to push WBU to its largest lead of the night at 24, and set the final score at 86-82.

WBU improves to 5-2 on the season and 3-0 in AMC play.  Next, the Eagles will face off against reigning AMC champion Columbia on Saturday, Dec. 7.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. in Columbia, Mo.
