Clark Named AMC Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award Winner
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (7/11/24) – Williams Baptist University women's basketball standout Kaylee Clark has been named the American Midwest Conference Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award winner by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
The Dr. LeRoy Walker Award is one of the most prestigious awards in the NAIA and was created to honor athletes that went above and beyond in academics, athletics, leadership, and living the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative.
Clark had an outstanding year on the hardwood for the Lady Eagles in the 2023-24 season, setting a new WBU single-season record with 609 points. The Batesville, Ark., native also set new single-season program highs in points per game, field goals made, and three pointers made.
Off the court, Clark excelled in the classroom with a cumulative GPA of 3.5. She has served in many different capacities on the campus of WBU. Clark worked as a Resident Assistant, Assistant Resident Director, Team Captain of the Women's Basketball Team, and the Vice President of the Williams Education Organization.
Clark has also served in the greater campus community, volunteering with Special Olympics and a free WBU basketball camp, as well as serving as a representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
"This is not only exciting for women's basketball, but WBU as well.", said head women's basketball coach John Mayberry. "Kaylee is the first WBU athlete to win the Dr. LeRoy Walker Award. Kaylee has been blessed to receive several accolades at WBU, and this is another that shows everyone what type of person she is. Both women's basketball and the University are very fortunate to have her. We are proud of her accomplishments and excited to see what she will continue to do."
Clark is now eligible for the NAIA Dr. LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award, which will be announced during the NAIA National Awards Day in September.
