Lady Eagles Picked Fifth in AMC Coaches Poll
The Williams Baptist University Women's Basketball Team was picked to finish fifth in the American Midwest Conference preseason coach's poll on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles gained 47 points in the poll, behind Columbia, Missouri Baptist, UHSP, and Stephens. The Eagles did not receive any first place votes.
Last season, the Eagles finished with an overall record of 19-11, going 14-6 in conference play. The Lady Eagles finished fourth in the regular season, beating Stephens College in the first round of the AMC tournament before falling to Columbia in the semi-finals.
The Lady Eagles return key pieces this year in Kaylee Clark and Monica Horne. Clark averaged 19.4 points per game, earning first-team All-AMC honors, while Horne earned an All-AMC honorable mention for her 2022-23 campaign.
Coach John Mayberry will have many new faces on the floor looking to make an impact this season, including Carmen Taylor, Charmen Taylor, and Taylor Hooten.
The Lady Eagles will open the season this Saturday, October 28th against University of the Ozarks. Tip-off is set for 3 P.M. in the Southerland-Mabee Center.
