Lady Eagles Drop First Game in NAIA Tournament Opening Round

OKLAHOMA CITY (5/11/26)  – The Williams Baptist University softball team fell to British Columbia 6-0 on Monday afternoon in the opening round of the NAIA Softball National Tournament at Ann Lacy Stadium in Oklahoma City.

Madyson Busselle (1-3, 2B) and Ashlyn Michael (1-3) accounted for the only two hits for WBU. 

The game was scoreless through four innings before British Columbia broke through with five runs in the fifth inning and added another in the sixth to put the game away. 

Williams threatened with runners on first and second with one out in the top of the fifth inning, but failed to convert in the frame.

Emberlin Caldwell (L, 22-6) started in the circle for the Lady Eagles, working five innings and allowing just two earned runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts.  Caldwell kept the game scoreless through four innings before UBC broke through in the fifth.

Morgan Garner came on in relief and tossed a clean inning of her own, allowing one unearned run on one hit.

The loss drops WBU to 41-14 overall on the season.

The Lady Eagles will return to Ann Lacy Stadium on Tuesday, May 12 to face the loser of the Grand View and Blue Mountain Christian in an elimination game. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Oklahoma City.
